TEHRAN -- Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Shahroudi on Monday said that world attention to the proposals put forward by the Islamic Republic regarding various political, cultural and intellectual issues is one of Iran's most important successes at the international level.

In a speech he gave at Iran's Judicial College to mark the start of the new academic year, Shahroudi said that despite the growing animosity of the global arrogance (the United States) toward the Islamic Republic, Iran has been able to present the best ideals as patterns for other nations to follow.

He said that with the Islamic Revolution, Iran set a precedent for the world to struggle toward intellectual development, adding that the Revolution could also serve as a perfect example of an efficient government.

Shahroudi further recalled the efforts of the global arrogance to harm the aspirations of the Islamic Republic through the Internet and certain domestic and foreign print media.

"Still, these plots have all failed to stop Iranians' efforts to push forward the cause of the Revolution through self-sacrifice and martyrdom-seeking. This (spirit) has been the key to the success of the Islamic Revolution and has made a significant contribution to inspiring the Palestinian "Intifada" (uprising)," he said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Judiciary chief lashed out at the U.S. for its policy of supporting the Zionist regime and said the U.S. double-standard policy regarding such issues as human rights and freedom is flagrant hypocrisy in Washington's approaches to dealing with international issues.
